I am so old I can remember playing football manager on the ZX81 when I was about 7, I hadnt obviously kissed a girl as I was inside waiting for the cassette player to hopefully load and staring at the volume level hoping it was at that sweet point

I played every version of it from the mid 90s until it was cancelled. Played as in 100s of hours. As well as numerous others like USM. Despite some quirks, I would rate Fifa Manager the best.

Tracksuit Manager (1988) was the one. International teams only but fully customisable. So a West Germany team made up of West Ham players won the Euros and World Cup under my stewardship. Liam Brady scored two in the WC Final as I remember.

I have just taken Hamburg from the Bundesliga 2 to winning the Champions League, this management lark is easy.
I do have an annual transfer budget of £197m though.

Currently playing a different online game with one of the lead developers of CM / FM, he was the guy to created the first proper 'game engine' went it stopped being just texted based, got some great stories about when the company started out, actually quite rock and roll in a geeky way.

I'd rather they brought back EA Sports FIFA Manager. Enjoyed that more.
For a while I could play FM18 on Linux, but they don't do it now.

I used to really enjoy it when you could complete a season in 4 to 5 hours but it's far too complicated these days.
Who on earth has the time or patience spending the best part of an hour just to play one match?
It's absurd...
